What We're Doing... Where We're Pedaling...
Hey there all of you out there who happen to be viewing this, I'm sure you are all friends or family of ours so thank you for your interest in keeping track of us and wondering just what the heck we're up to. As of May the 20th we will be headed up north toward Seattle from San Diego to embark on an over 4,000 mile bicycle journey of doom. Heh...Heh...Heh... Anywho Liz and I will take the easy ride up north with our parent's in a car and spend some time hanging with them in the city for a few days. On June the 1st we will hopefully saddle up and say goodbye to all the luxuries and conveniences we have consistantly known for our whole lives, oh yeah and our parents too. We will be pulling all of our camping equipment, clothes, food, cameras, guitar, drum, and amenities with us on small tow trailers designed for bicycle touring. Since we decided to give up our house, our cars, and our jobs this means that we have no real time limit, no real idea what is going to happen nor an agenda to return too. Yeeehaaa!
We imagined up this idea together one day while dorking around in Rei as nerdy as that sounds. Liz and I had wanted to embark on something big and adventurous for as long as possible maximizing all the financial means we could scrounge up. I have had the urge to do a cross country trip since middle school and to be able to have someone like my girlfriend to do it with is just super duper!!!!!!!!!!! So as difficult as this ride is going to be it is going to be much more devastating for us to say goodbye to the ocean and our wave sliding boards. NO SURFING FOR FOUR MONTHS!!!!! It sounds like it could be the title of a horror movie or something. Jeepers...... So with that in mind it will be interesting to see how we handle ourselves being landlocked on two wheels for such a long period of time.
Our journey begins just north of Seattle on around the first of June. We will pedal our carcasses accross Washington; Northern Idaho, into Montana's Glacier National Park, then downward from there into Yellowstone Park Wyoming. We will then shoot ( you can't really shoot on a bike with fourty pounds of gear behind you but you get the jist) into Colorado to visit friends in Breckenridge. After a brief stint of some possible skateboarding and alcohol abuse we will once again saddle up and head east out of Colorado through Kansas and into Missouri joining up with the Mississippi River. We will follow her north for a week or so stopping in Missoula(the home of Mark Twain) to visit some people I should have visited a long long time ago. After an outing with Bob and Loretta we will divert east once again into Illinois, Indiana and then on to Ohio to possibly see another beloved friend of ours. More riding will take us northeast up along Lake Erie squeaking through Pennsylvania and into New York. Our time here will I'm sure be crazy and explanatory for we will be landing in Buffalo for a few days. My mom grew up there and I have heard oh so many stories of the Buff town. There is also an enormous population of the McGuires still residing there, all of whom I have never met. Hmmm??? Think we'll drink some beer with those guys???? Into a hungover next few days on our bikes we will trek the rest of the state of New York reaching Vermont hopefully during the beginning of fall season change which should prove to be most excellent. New Hampshire and Maine will be our next two regions and will most likely blow our minds with beauty.. Did I just write that??? Intersting.... So that about does it, thats our route. We will end in Bar Harbor, Maine with a some serious molding in the finest bed and breakfast our maxed out credit cards will get us. Cheers.

Hi, you probably won't remember me but you used to baby sit me. It's Jacob from Esperanza.I don't remember you so I'm just writing a ridiculous letter that your mom made me write, but It's not bad even though thousands of people are reading this note somehow. Any-way keep pedaling. I'll try to stay in touch. -Jacob
